Eamon, The Beginners Cave, Revisited.

It was bugging me that I didn’t do better in the Beginners Cave, so I created another character and went back.  This time I did better and it was worth it.  I got some more loot and had a good time as well.

Now that I have found a more satisfactory ending to the Beginners Cave, I’m going to go back to The Caves of Mondamen and try again.

Last night I added a few pages about my Apple II’s.  I plan to update them with more details and add more pages about the computers I work with.

— (boring PC stuff to follow)

My computers are not what you would call state of the art, although they might have been when they were built.  I haven’t bought a new computer since I switched from my Apple //c to the IBM world.  I bought a 386DX, with 1MB RAM and a 50MB Hard Drive.  I have to admit I argued with the guy who sold it to me.  I wanted a smaller hard drive, as I thought a 50MB drive was a ridiculous waste of space.  I had been using an IBM PC/XT with 640K and a 10MB hard drive at work and personally coming up from an Apple //c with dual 140K drives.  What would I do with all that space?  What is the smallest hard drive you would install for a primary drive on a new computer now?  My Linux laptop had a 320GB WD Scorpio Hard Drive when I decided to switch to Linux, I stumbled across an 80GB SSD drive that cost $40 after rebates.  It was well worth the loss of space for the speed difference.  It takes about 28 seconds to do a real book of Ubuntu Linux.  The battery lasts about half again as long on my laptop as a side benefit.
