To make a bootable Prodos disk, follow the directions to P8-Making a ProDos Data Disk. When you get to the part where you put in a volume name you might want to use something relative to what you are going to put on the disk. Something like /GAMES or /PROGRAMS.
After the disk is formatted and you return to the Main Menu, you are going to look under the section Work on Individual Files and choose Copy Files.
The utilities will ask ‘Where is your source disk?’ and offer a choice of ‘Slot and Drive’ or ‘ProDos Pathname’. Choose ‘Slot and Drive’. Then type in the numbers for your slot and drive.
The utilities will ask ‘Where is your destination disk?’ and offer a choice of ‘Slot and Drive’ or ‘ProDos Pathname’. Choose ‘Slot and Drive’. Then type in the numbers for your slot and drive.
The utilities will ask you to ‘Select Some or All files on this disk’ Choose Some. Then type in the numbers for your slot and drive.
The utilities will list the file names on the source disk. Use the arrow keys to move up and down the list and press the space bar to select the files you wish to copy. In this case select PRODOS and BASIC.SYSTEM and press Return to start the copy process.
The utilities will clear the screen and then say ‘Copying PRODOS…Done’ and ‘Copying BASIC.SYSTEM…Done’. You can press Return at this point and go back to the Main Menu. The Destination disk should now be a bootable ProDos disk that you can put your own programs on.
