Extracting .shk Disk Images on Windows

This uses CiderPress which can be found using the link under Links.  You should install this on your windows machine.

Say you were on Asimov (also found using the link under Links.) and found a file you wanted to checkout.  I found a pair of disks called Disk Disintegrator Deluxe 5_0D1.shk and Disk Disintegrator Deluxe 5_0D2.shk which are compressed with shrinkit.

CiderPress can decompress this type of file into a disk image quite easily.  You double click on the file with the .shk extension and CiderPress opens up.  The first file (Disk Disintegrator Deluxe 5_0D1.shk) opens up in the CiderPress window with one line.  The beginning of the line is the path name, in this case DDD followed by the type Disk.  Click on the path name DDD once to highlight it.  Then you can click on the extract icon (looks like a piece of paper with an arrow to a folder) and the Extract Files window opens.  Make sure to browse to the location where you want the disk image to end up, then click on the extract button.  This particular file did not have an extension when it was extracted, so when it was done extracting I changed the name and added the .dsk extension at which point I could boot it under AppleWin.
