Yesterday, I suggested a New User Kit. I’d like to clarify what I meant. The name is a complete misnomer, because first off it wouldn’t really be a kit, and secondly, it wouldn’t be just for New Users.
I was thinking of a place, say a web page, where you could find the very basics of using an Apple II, either for the first time or again after an absence. Some people have never used an Apple II and others, like me, used one more than 25 years ago and sometimes need a refresher.
With this in mind I have created a page called New User Kit, which should be listed under Pages which is between the search box and the Recent Posts.
For disk images I suggested a ProDos system disk and/or a DOS 3.3 system master. I would say both.
Osgeld suggested Copy II+, which I would agree with.
I would also suggest one or more diagnostic programs, preferably one that gives a good run down on what the Apple II is and has. For instance, is it an Apple II with 48K, 64K or 128K? Does it have and recognize one or more diskette drives? Does it have a serial card?
