The other night I was working on the print map subroutine of Mapper. My printer sits on a TV tray at the end of my desk. The TV tray is sideways and so is the printer with the paper in its short box under the TV tray. The paper comes from under the TV tray up over what would have been the end of the desk, so it was kind of enclosed underneath.
I would make some changes and try a test print and then go back in and make some more changes. As soon as I finished the test print, one of my cats would go under the TV tray and sit on the paper. I would shoo her away and print again. She just kept coming back and sitting on the paper. I started to get irate with her and she went around the back and laid on the floor, except for her front legs and head which she put on the paper, with a look on her face as if to say, “So there, how do you like that?” I couldn’t help but crack up laughing as did my wife who had been watching with some amusement.
Tonight, I’m back at work on the subroutine. The cat is asleep right nearby, so I start to print and there is the other cat, right on the paper. I shoo her off and print, make some changes and go to print again. There she is again, so I shoo her off again and go to sit down. Out of the corner of my eye I see the chair spin slowly around with the cat on it. She likes to jump up on it in such a manner as to make it spin.
I’ve been working on this subroutine for a while now I should be able to finish it this weekend, if I can squeeze in a block of uninterrupted time to work on it. The spacing on it has been fighting me. I think it has something to do with using tab() beyond 80 columns.
