In my travels on the internet today, I stumbled across some notes and articles about the No Slot Clock. The one thing I always missed on the Apple II was the presence of a clock/calendar function. The No Slot Clock from what I can read is nice because once you install it you pretty much forget it. If you want to use it you add the drivers for it to your disk and there it is.
When I first got my //c I looked around and found the Cricket by Street Electronics which filled several functions including clock/calendar and sound card. My cricket is past history, but I would still like to have a clock/calendar available. One of the features of AppleWin is it emulates the No Slot Clock.
I found the model number of the chip for the No Slot Clock and it appears to still be available and at a reasonable price. You can use the same chip in both the //e and //c. I’m thinking I will order one and try it out. Whether it works or not, I will post all I have found out about it. I just want to gather the facts first hand before I give some information that could harm somebodies computer.
