Plans?

There are a number of quotes about plans, one of which involves god and laughter.  Suffice it to say, my plans did not come about.  More on that later.

I did not have the time I thought I was going to have in order to finish up Mapper.  Good thing I don’t do this for a living.  Vaporware anybody?  I’m going to post what I have tomorrow for those that might be interested.

I did a quick check in on the usenet and things are picking up a little.  Ivan X has come up with a project A2Cloud where he marries his Apple //c with a Raspberry PI and throws in ADTPro and vsdrive.  This lets you can use the Apple II to access the internet and download Apple II stuff through the Pi.

This projects attracts me because of the Apple //c and the Raspberry Pi.  I’ve been looking at the Pi for months now, trying to convince myself to buy one.

The Pi reminds me of the Apple II.  It is a small open system with so many possibilities.  The pricing is at a point where pretty much anybody can afford them and the basic system has pretty much everything you need to use it.  Just look at the ports: USB, hdmi and composite video, audio, lan and for those technical types gpio.  They don’t come with a case, so many are selling a wide variety of cases.  There are small boxes, clear or colored, solid or made up of laser cut layers.  There is even one that fits a vesa mount so you can mount it to the back of your tv.

My daughter also had today off and we went car shopping.  I was along for moral support.  She looked online and found a car she liked in price range she could afford and we hiked into the next town to try it out.  Then she worked out a deal with them and we didn’t have to walk home.
