There used to be a store that we drove by up the coast a bit called Stuff. I always thought that was a cool name for a store.
Sunday, I made the winning bid on an Imagewriter II printer. I told my daughter about it and she said something like “Of course you have cables and paper for that?” I respond something like “Sure, I had an Imagewriter, so I have cables.” and let it go at that.
Apparently, I didn’t let it go that far, because Tuesday, I went looking for my cables. Found them right away, but wait, I had an Imagerwriter not an Imagewriter II. Is there a difference? I went looking on the internet. Sure enough the Imagewriter uses a db25 serial cable and the Imagewriter II uses a mini din 8 serial cable. So, back to eBay for cables. I bought one for the Apple //c. Now I also have a MacPlus and a MacSE, so I got another cable for those.
As luck would have it, when I went looking for cables for my //c, I touched the left side of the monitor by the brightness control and the screen went blank. If I move it just right it comes back, but it is real touchy.
Today I got a second order of 3 1/2″ diskettes. I opened them right up to format them. Fortunately, as I mentioned in an earlier post, I have options. I turned the monitor from my desktop computer to a better angle, push the button to select the composite input on my monitor and push the button on the switch for the monitors. Click and I am up running. I formatted and verified the whole box, no problems.
I got thinking about my cable situation and paper. How hard should paper be? Well let me tell you they don’t give that away. You can pick up a thousand sheets of ink jet or copier paper for $8 to $12 around here pretty easily, but pin feed paper runs from $29 for a thousand on up to $75.
