Today, I went to update my ADTPro boot diskette and it would not boot after the update. I had notched it for double sided use, so I figured I’d try the other side. When I flipped it over, I noticed a label on the back. I have a terrible habit of not labeling diskettes, so I didn’t suspect anything when there was no label in the front. I remembered, this diskette gave me problems on the front. Normally, I would have tossed the diskette out, however, replacing the software on the diskette is so easy, I didn’t need to worry about the diskette. With software that can’t be easily replaced it is important to have not only good diskettes, but backup copies also. ADTPro’s bare metal download, works so fast and easy, the software can be replaced in about a minute flat. So a lesson here is label your diskettes and make notes. This was on the internal 5 1/4″ drive.
Once I got upgraded, I attempted to download a 3 1/2 diskette. It reached the half way mark and then stopped on block 801, one block past half. I tried it on my second drive and it stopped in the same place. It looks like a diskette order needs to be placed soon.
I like where I moved my Apple to. It’s nice to be able to sit squarely in front of the keyboard and type for a change.
