Whatcha Got?

I’d kind of like to hear from all of you.

What do you have for Apple II equipment?

Do you have any unusual equipment or software?

When I bought my Apple //c, I got a Scribe printer.  This had what was then called near letter quality print mode.  It used a strange ribbon that was basically plastic with crayon on it.  The printer melted the ink, crayon, to print.  It did print nice, but the ribbon was a one pass and done, so it was expensive to use.

Street Electronics produced a product called the Cricket Speach Synthesizer.  I had one of those for awhile.  It plugged into a serial port and in addition to speach it had a clock calendar function.

My Apple //c is kind of unusual, because in addition to the internal 5 1/4″ diskette drive, I also have an external one daisy chained with two 3 1/2″ drives.

I have two duodrives connected to my Apple //e, for a total of four 5 1/4″ drives.

I have a Kensington System Saver which is pretty slick.  It is a combination surge suppressor and system fan to cool the Apple //e.  You hang it on the side of the //e and plug one cord into the wall and another into the power supply of the //e.  Then you have another outlet for the monitor and a spare.

Let me know what you have.  If you feel inclined, send a picture to dailyapple at ancient.excited-geek.com and I’ll see about posting them altogether.

I have two Apples that I use the most. One is a standard IIe with a 1 MB RamWorks card, a Transwarp, SSC, and an Apple 5.25″ drive. I use a b&w Zenith set for the monitor. Sometimes I put an Uthernet card in this one for networking. I do a lot of machine language experiments with this one, where I use the Monitor and write all the programs in hex.

Then I have a ROM 3 IIGS with 2 MB RAM, a FocusDrive and the Uthernet. This one is for the GS/OS applications.

Apple IIe Platinum edition here with a single 5.25″ drive and SSC connected to my Mac for ADTPro usage.

  3. I have owned an Apple ][e since NOV-1983, , but I have not worked extensively with any of the Apple ][‘s from 1990 to 2011.

I currently Own 8 Apple ][e, a mix of Non-Enhanced and Enhanced, Two Enhanced Motherboards, Two Apple ][gs that are unreliable, and Three Apple ][gs Rom-1 Refurbished Motherboards that are being installed into the Two Apple ][gs cases, an Apple ][ that needs to be cleanup, but boots and an Apple ][ Plus, ( with a Motherboard that is older than the Apple ][ ), but has parts missing.
