I’ve always wanted to write a text adventure and have thought about writing one for an older machine.
It’s alway been a toss up between the Apple II and the PDP 11/70 I first worked on. Each has some advantages over the other. For program space the Apple II’s Applesoft actually beats the 11/70’s Basic Plus slightly with roughly 35K over 16K, however disk space on the Apple II is measured in K whereas on the 11/70 it is measured in MB (1000’s of K).
I’m going to be looking at some of the older versions of inform. I know there is at least one version of the Z machine interpreter for Apple Prodos so I thought I would try to find the latest version on inform that would be compatible. I will post results of that search later.

I played Tetris II for about half an hour. I’m starting to get a feel for it, but the scores I get are sad. I haven’t broken 2000 yet. The controls are fairly simple; J-move left, K-rotate shape, L-move right and comma(,) to drop.

Well, today I spent a great deal of time rebuilding my desktop computer. I had to wipe the drive, reinstall Windows 7 with updates, printer/scanner and Open Office. My wife’s laptop and mine both need to have the cpu fans replaced and hers needs to have Windows XP reinstalled. I have a new hard drive for hers which I will install at the same time I install Windows XP.
