I spent time looking for some BBS software for the Apple II. By time, I mean I spent several hours.
Most of the systems I found had little or no documentation. Without the documentation I will be lost. So far, I have found a couple that had documentation. I took a little time to scan through the documentation on both. Of course, both require a modem, so I’m going to have to dig mine out.
One, Networks BBS comes on one DOS 3.3 diskette and has the documentation on the diskette, with the programs. It seems to require an Apple II and one 5 1/4″ diskette drive.
The other, ProLine BBS comes on 2 800K diskettes and a very professional looking 353 page PDF manual. It seems to require an Apple IIe, a 3 1/2″ diskette drive and a hard disk with 5MB or more. You will notice there is quite a bit of difference in the requirements. I lean towards the ProLine at this time as I prefer to work with ProDOS.
I’ll get back to this later when I have a chance to play with both.
