Today I received my next order of diskettes, a box of 5 1/4″ diskettes. They came in a bubble envelope and when I opened the envelope the top of the box was slightly crushed. It was a sealed box so I ripped off the cellophane and opened it up. Four of the diskettes were damaged, but in a way I had never seen. The top edge on them was shattered. There was a bunch of little pieces in the bottom of the box.
I took all of the diskettes out of the box and inspected them closely. Five of the diskettes were in perfect condition and the sixth had a slight crack near the top. I double checked each of these six making sure there were no extra pieces in them and then formatted and verified them. They all came out fine.
I sent the seller a note through eBay and they responded with an apology and offer of partial refund. I responded with what I thought was a fair refund, $2 or $3. They responded with an OK and said it would be about an hour. I have already received a $4 refund through PayPay. This all happened over the course of maybe four hours. This is more than I was expecting and unbelievably fast. Truly amazing customer service. I gave them a fully positive rating for the transaction.
Now that I have some 5 1/4″ diskettes, I’m going to download some programs and try them out. Most Apple II programs want a 5 1/4″ diskette or if they are ProDOS you have to download them onto 5 1/4″ diskettes and install from there to a 3 1/2″ diskette or hard drive.
